Cell Construction Zone

Cell Construction Zone

You will construct a model of a plant or an animal cell.  All models must be made out of materials that will not spoil or fall apart easily.  This model must be made at home and transported to school (make sure it can get to school safely).  Use the questions in the grading section to help you develop a good project.  This can be worth 5 test points!!!

Each model must include all of the following organelles:
* Each organelle must be labeled with it’s name and it’s function.

1.  Cell Wall (if plant cell)
2.  Cell Membrane
3.  Ribosomes
4.  Nucleus
5.  Nucleolus
6.  Nuclear Membrane
7.  Vacuoles
8.  Mitochondria
9.  Cytoplasm
10.  Endoplasmic Reticulum
11.  Lysosomes (if animal cell)
12.  Chloroplasts (if plant cell)

Scoring Guides:  Total possible score = 30 points

Points possible

Your Score

  1point

All organelles are included and properly labeled.  The type of cell is identified.  All writing is neat and there are no spelling errors!

 1 point

All the functions of the organelles are correct and neatly written on the labels.

  1point

The relationships between the parts (if any) are shown correctly.  For example, are some of the ribosomes on or near the E.R.?

1 point

The materials are acceptable.  The Cell is stable and is not falling apart.

1 point

All of the organelles look like real organelles.
